Cruan Riding School and Livery located in the Isle of Orkney, set in stunning scenery just outside Finstown is a friendly Livery Stable and Riding School for all who have the welfare of Horses at heart.
Our facilities can offer you lessons from general riding improvement to show jumping and dressage, in addition to trekking through some of the most beautiful scenery of Orkney.
We are a friendly centre with qualified instructors on hand at all times who regularly teach at all levels catering for all ages and all abilities from the absolute beginner to the most discerning of riders.
Our friendly, qualified and experienced trek leaders will take you on a trip through fantastic countryside that you cannot easily reach on foot.
With a wide selection of horses – around 30 well schooled horses and ponies, ensure that we find the right combination for you, whatever level.
We have a huge indoor riding school (who cares about the weather!).
A superb sand area with wonderful views.
Our horses and ponies are used for the local Riding for the Disabled Group.

TEACHING
We take pride in our teaching and gain real pleasure seeing riders and horses improve with our help.
Sarah: is know throughout Orkney as an inspired and enthusiastic teacher. She has many years of teaching at all levels and enjoys teaching riders to be ‘at one’ with their horses. She gets great satisfaction when a rider gains a new skill and ‘feels’ when it is right. Her regular ‘clinics’ are well known as she takes the mystery out of horsemanship and puts the fun back. She has all the knowledge you will need to help you. Having competed at a high level in both show jumping and eventing for many years she has a wealth of experience.
Paul: Both Sarah and Paul feel that to teach well you must make the experience enjoyable for both horse and rider. They both have a well-developed sense of humour and lessons are never dull!
The Support Team – Cruan Riding School has a wonderful, experienced and friendly team with no less than 3 experienced trekking leaders to ensure your holiday is special from beginning to end.
